Zenith provides vehicles and fleet services for cars and vans that are taken home at the end of the day. Dynamon used ZERO and historical telematics from that operation to test electric replacements, match battery size to charging, and set out the cost and CO₂ of the change.

Key outcomes
- Historical telematics. Duty cycles rebuilt from recorded journeys, including where each vehicle parked overnight.
- The right vehicle and charger. Different vehicles and battery sizes simulated with overnight charging, to specify the appropriate pair.
- A full cost and CO₂ view. Diesel vehicles tested for electric on the existing replacement cycle, with total cost of ownership and carbon alongside.
Telematics and overnight parking
Dynamon collected historical telematics for the cars and vans and rebuilt the duty cycles in ZERO. The study used the journeys already being driven, not a standard range figure.
The same record identified where each vehicle parked overnight. Those stops are at home, away from a shared depot, so the charging plan follows the locations the telematics showed rather than a site the fleet does not return to.
Vehicles, batteries and charging
The diesel vehicles were grouped by type, from cars through to larger vans. Electric alternatives were identified for each group. ZERO then simulated those vehicles across a range of battery sizes, together with the charger options that could replenish them during the overnight stop.
Each pairing was judged on whether it could complete the recorded duty cycles. The specification that emerged was the appropriate vehicle and charger for the work. Where range still fell short, those journeys were identified for a public top-up instead of upsizing the battery for the whole fleet.
Replacement, cost and carbon
Replacement feasibility was tied to the fleet’s existing cycle. Each diesel vehicle was assessed for an electric successor at the point it is due to be replaced, so the transition is phased with the vehicles already scheduled to leave.
A full total cost of ownership analysis and a CO₂ analysis were run on that plan. Zenith can see the operational result, which vehicles and chargers fit, and the cost and carbon of making the change as those replacements fall due.
Zenith can specify an electric vehicle and charger for each car and van as it comes due for replacement, matched to the journeys it already drives and where it parks overnight.
